Welcome to Veggy Jenn. I am glad you are here to check the site out. I want to first off let you know that I am NOT a political vegetarian. But, I do feel very strongly that consumption of animals is no longer needed for the survival of the human race. My first reason for being Vegetarian is my health. I feel that by consuming animal meat I am being unhealthy. And, I believe that animals have a sense of feel and a sense of understanding. I do not put them as equals to humanity, I believe they are creatures that acknowledge the presence of another creature.
I have been a vegetarian in one form or another since February 2002 following a radical hysterectomy following the discovery of pre-cancerous tumors in both my ovaries. These past 10 years have been trial and error for myself in my vegetarian journey. Sometimes I was following a Lacto Vegetarian diet. This is a diet that allows for dairy products like milk, cheeses, and yogurt. But not the consumption of eggs. Or I was following a Ovo Vegetarian diet that allowed for no dairy products, but allows for eggs. And, now and then I would try the Vegan route, which follows a diet of no animal products what-so-ever. I have even tried the Prescatarian menu, which is on the route to Veganism. You eat seafood, but no beef, pork, chicken. But, for the most part I have stayed away from seafood. I would be remiss if I did not say I would crave a nice slab of salmon, or my mother in laws fried razor clams.
At this junction in my Veggy Journey, I am following the Ovo-Vegetarian diet. We have our own flock of chickens and a few ducks. They are fed an organic feed, fresh vegetables, and allowed to run around the back yard. The eggs are full of nutrients, full of flavor, and fun to share with our family. This vegetarian dietary plan is one that I can follow the easiest and with the most success.
This is a journey, and I would be honored if you followed this journey. Check out the links and information page. This is the page that will provide you with dietary information, recipes, and other relevant information. If you choose to leave comments for me, please know I will not respond to negative or nasty comments. I realize not all people will go along with Vegetarian lifestyle. But, this is my way of sharing my journey to complete health, and comfort in knowing I showed my compassion for others through how I choose to live my life. I believe that God provided the necessary nutrients in the ground for us to grow our own foods.
May God Bless You!
